I’m happy to announce that next year I’ll be taking on a leadership position at UMW’s Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM)!! I’ll be a part of the Liturgy team and help make the schedule for lectors and altar servers, as well as plan Holy Week.
The CCM has been such an amazing part of my college experience by making me feel at home in my first year at UMW. It’s been awesome to see such a strong Catholic presence on campus and have a church within walking distance. The current leadership team is so friendly, outgoing, and overall fantastic at bringing people in and reflecting God’s love for everyone. It was because of their warm welcome that first week (they walked around passing out cookies) that I was able to immediate find community and feel less alone on campus.
Additionally, I was so blessed to be able to attend the SEEK Conference and Richmond College Summit; they were amazing experiences that I highly recommend.
The easy access to the Sacraments has been life-changing. My home church’s daily Mass times are always in the mornings when I was at school, so I was never able to go. Luckily, the CCM has it at 5:00pm so I make it a lot more often. It’s going to be strange to go home and only go to Mass once or twice a week.
This will be my first leadership position in any club or organization since coming to college. I’m a little nervous, but I’m super excited to get more involved in ministry and be part of the CCM team. I can’t wait to see where it leads me! (Pun intended.)
